NEUROFEEDBACK AND OTHER CUTTING-EDGE THERAPIES HELP REGULATE THE BRAIN

Our unique Brain Center is a calm, caring environment where patients can improve their self-regulation skills. This safe space focused on wellness and healing employs state-of-the-art equipment that can be tailored to each individual’s current status.

Brain Center Features

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback uses real-time displays of brain activity to teach self-regulation, which helps patients to confront deeper issues with a calmer spirit by better regulating the limbic system of the brain. Neurofeedback also addresses brain dysregulation, improving symptoms related to anxiety, depression, addictive disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and emotional disturbances.

Additional Features

Biofeedback

Through the use of electrical sensors that receive information about your body, biofeedback helps patients learn to control bodily processes that are normally involuntary, including muscle tension, heart rate, and blood pressure. By learning how to relax certain muscles and calm the mind, the result is an ability to practice new, more positive coping mechanisms during stressful situations, which is particularly helpful to those in treatment and recovery.

CES

Cranio-Electro Stimulation (CES), which employs a small modulated electrical current applied to sensors attached to the earlobes, has been a useful tool for the past 25 years. It promotes sleep, relief from anxiety, and improved cognitive function for those who’ve struggled with substance abuse and mental health disorders.

HRV

Heart-Rate Variability (HRV) is a biofeedback device that helps patients learn how to relax and recognize their unique breathing patterns, synchronizing respiratory functions and heart rate for the better management of stress and anxiety.

Chi Machine

Providing a better mind-body connection and overall wellness, the Chi Machine oscillates the patient’s ankles in a figure eight pattern, helping with improved circulation, immune system function, and heart and lymph flow. By addressing these key centers of the body, it frees up the brain to function in a healthier way overall.

The Brain Center is available to all Willow House patients to use during their stay as part of their overall treatment program.
